You’ve just downloaded Music_SDP. What’s next? Use this guide and our YouTube tutorials to discover more about the software.
This brief YouTube playlist will walk you through the very first steps of creation in Music_SDP. From opening the program for the first time, to making your first sounds. This is what you need to know in order to start making sounds!
Starting Your First Project
New users may not realize that saving projects is a necessity for the proper function of many aspects of our system. If you create a new project, but hit cancel on the “save project as…” window, you will be able to use the program, but you won’t be able to add or save audio files, MIDI files, pedal boards, or scores. You also won’t be able to use VST plugins. So remember, when making a new project, be sure to choose a name and location, and don’t forgot that initial save!
Once your project is created, changes will be saved automatically. Your controller setup will be remembered along with your module presets, saved boards list, scores and project settings. We want you to get exploring and trying out new things! We’ll keep track of all the changes that you make, and you don’t have to worry about losing your progress.
THE SYSTEM BOARD & THE PEDAL BOARD
The Music and Sound Design Platform is split into two equally important sections: The System Board, and the Pedal Boards. There’s a whole lot to learn here: the whole program, basically! These videos will introduce you to the structure and function of both so that you can begin making music.

MANAGING YOUR PROJECT FILES
We know that you have audio files, MIDI files, and VST plugins that you want to use in your projects, so we built systems and structures for each! The following videos will show you how to add, use, and create files of various types in Music_SDP.

Using VSTs in Music_SDP
Our file management tools make it easy to keep track of everything in your project, and it also streamlines and simplifies the process of sharing your project with others! For example, did you know that your project folder contains everything you need to run your project on any copy of Music_SDP? Send a copy of your project folder to a friend, or distribute the project folder to performers who want to take your music on the road! All of your audio files, MIDI files, and VST files are stored in your project, so you don’t have to worry about anything being left behind.
AUTOMATING YOUR PROJECTS
The Music and Sound Design Platform’s automation options are unparalleled and offer a wealth of options and approaches for all types and styles of performance. Automation controls the process of changing parameters in your modules and around your project over time, taking care of processes for you so that your hands stay free to play instruments, control your mix, conduct your orchestra, or just to sit back and watch your music unfold!

Part 3: Using the Metronome and Creating Metronome Automation
Part 4: The Score System (1 of 2)

OK, that’s a LOT of information to take in. Don’t feel like you need to watch all of these videos to understand automation. The first one is a must-watch for anyone who wants to work with automation. Beyond the first video, choose the tutorials that cover the systems that you’re personally interested in learning!
